On a side note, Running With Scissors is an awesome movie. I loved it. Very dry weird humor, sort of like Royal Tennenbaums. It made me laugh out loud several times.

Merry Christmas!
Well, it's finally here (and almost gone). What a great day! We got up this am and went to the Mitchell's for breakfast and to watch the kids open the presents (kids really do make the holiday's!). Then we went to Lee & Stef's for brunch/dinner and played Guitar Hero and played Scrabble (Lori kicked our asses!). Oh, we also did a puzzle. Lee and Stef got the Mitchell's a custom puzzle made of a picture taken when we did our Amish day (don't ask) of the 4 of them standing in front of the barn. That was a bitch to do because of all of the red in the barn. What a good idea, though. I'm thinking that would be a good thing to do for our Thanksgiving puzzle.
I'll tell ya, I can't wait to get my engagement ring, I keep having dreams I'm getting it, then I have to wake up to the realization that - no, I don't have it yet. Chris said that I'll have it in the next couple of weeks but I'd be lying if I didn't say I want it now. I guess patience is a virtue. That's what they say.
Well, back to work tomorrow. Slave to the grind. Oh woe is me.

Thank goodness that's over!
Well, today was our annual cookie baking day. Although these are the best cookies on the face of the earth, making them is a chore. And not just because I hate baking. It is a tradition in our family to make candy cane cookies. This year, because both Diane and I have a kitchen aid, we decided to make 4 double batches. I repeat - 4 DOUBLE batches. Yes folks this is a LOT of cookies. I can't stand to bake in the first place, but rolling all of these cookies to form candy canes is a bit much. It sure is a lot easier with the 2 kitchen aids! We did one with white & one with red food coloring. (well, 2 white and 2 with red food coloring). That worked well. After and HOUR of making candy cane's we switched to making balls. Much much easier. I don't know how people can stand to make all different kinds of cookies. We complain about one type.
But, after 5 hours of mixing, forming and baking we did have a yummy result. And we have more cookies this year than we have ever had! I can see the scale moving up in numbers already. It's a good thing we don't make these a lot!
Tomorrow is Christmas at Chris's dads house. This is going to be fun. I didn't have anything to wear, so on my way home from Dianes I stopped at Macy's and got myself 2 new sweaters. Yay for me.
Well, Elf is on so I must go and indulge in a little relaxing tv watching!

Rats in a cage
So Chris & I went to the mall last night. I had some things I needed to get engraved for work. In the store they had something like 6 people working. Now, this is not a large store. As a matter of fact it's on the small side with lots of fragile things. I don't know how they can all stand working that close to each other ESPECIALLY this time of the year. So, I dropped the things to be engraved off and ventured out into the mall. I love people watching all year round, but this season especially. It's like people come out of the woodwork. There was a woman that had a baby in a stroller and the baby was babbling like babies do. This woman actually said "yeah yeah blah blah blah". Ding Ding Ding, we have the winner of the mother of the year award. Way to be supportive of your baby learning to talk. Chris and I walked around a little bit then left and went to Barnes. That was nice, except it kept making me think that it was Friday. TGIF now.
Dan interviewed a few people yesterday. I saw 3 of the 5. He has more today. So far I really like the first lady that came in. She was very personable, which is almost a requirement for our office.
Man I can't wait to get my hair cut tomorrow.....

Changes
So, I lied. I do have friends. I met Tracy at Panera yesterday for lunch. That was nice. Of course, me being me, I ate a half of a sub with Diane before I left so when I got to the restaurant I wasn't really hungry. But for those of you who don't know the Smith girls, we can consume food whenever! Eating is very serious. So, I got myself a big fruit cup and a mango smoothie. That mango smoothie is GREAT. I'm craving one right now.
Work is going to be interesting for a while. Diane is leaving so today and tomorrow Dan is going to be interviewing people. Wish I could have a say in the interview process. It's going to be weird not having a family member in the office. I really like working w/Diane. BUT now I'll be able to take off the day after Thanksgiving. YAY. I'm still thinking about leaving. But yesterday I realized how much I enjoy training and being out in the field. Because it's been so slow I've been in the office a lot lately (which is torture and I hate). I don't want to work someplace where I have to be in an office. Enterprise would be perfect, but I don't want to work 45-50 hours a week. That just won't be fair when Chris & I get a dog. So, I think what I'm going to do is get a list together to give to Dan (like he asked when we discussed me possibly leaving too) and see what he has to say. So, we'll see I guess.
I finally got our Christmas cards stamped & ready to go. Nothing like waiting until the last minute, huh?

Relaxing....
Well, last night I was going to write but me being the big loser that I am was in bed at....yup you guessed it....8PM. I took a bath while I watched a couple of Friends episodes and relaxed. I was up late the night before (well, late for me) and I was tired all day yesterday, so I knew I'd be in bed early. Needless to say I feel pretty fricking good this morning.
Oh, and I finally got myself a new hair dryer. YAY ME, I've been needing one for about a month now. I didn't realize there were ion ceramic dryers now. I was in heaven when I saw that. Give a big Thank You to the hair God. Now all I need it to get it trimmed this weekend and I won't look like Edward Scissorhands anymore. Christmas has come early!
So, off to work now. I have a feeling it's going to be a long day. I can't wait for spring to be here so I can be busy again!

Christmas spirit...
Another long day at the office. I realized today that no one has put up Christmas decorations yet. Usually Diane & I do that right after Thanksgiving, but things are weird this year. So, today needing a "lifting" of atmosphere, I decided to break out the x-mas goodies. It's amazing how much of a difference a little Christmas spirit can make in someone's attitude. After that amazingly weird weekend and everyone being grouchy at work, I wound up being in a pretty good mood. We even put on the Christmas tunes (which I did a fantastic job of butchering) while I was putting up the decorations.
Yay for Christmas spirit.

Is this a test?
I'm sure only my sister will read this, as I am a big loser who has no friends (haha). But what a better way to air my thoughts.
So, this weekend was a true test of our will. Chris and I had big plans to go to the city to visit Tanya this weekend. I took Friday off so we could get an early start. God had another plan for us. Turns out that there was a storm that was going to hit on Sunday, so we didn't want to take the chance driving. First bubble burst. I had the day off, so we decided to go to Ithaca to get a Keva juice (only THE best smoothie's on the planet) and walk around some. We get there and THE STORE WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY!!! They closed down and we didn't know it. Second bubble burst. We were so upset that we left Ithaca without even walking around the Commons. On our way home we decided to go to Circuit City to get the home theatre system that we have been looking at. We get it, take it outside and realize that whaddyaknow, it won't fit in the "bleeping" car. A girl that works there went inside & got something to break down the box with and we just took everything out to get it home. Almost a third bubble burst. Saturday we got up and started hooking everything up at around 8:30 or so. We got all of the wires run & hid, got it all hooked up and had - NO PICTURE ONLY SOUND. Bubble burst number four. At 8pm we realized we had a bad HDMI cable so we went and exchanged it. Sunday, today, we got it all fixed and things were going great! We had unbelievable sound to go with our new TV. The house was finally looking like a house again! There did turn out to be lots of icy snow, so we decided to go & get Chinese during a lull in the action. This is where we encounter bubble burst number five. We walked in to the restaurant & were "seated" near some people that I really don't believe have showered in about 3 weeks! (On the way out they were asking the staff where wal-mart was, surprise surprise). I turned right around and asked to be re-seated. We wound up sitting in the same isle as these 3 kids who were about as loud as someone would be at a circus. I had to give the one kid evil eye because he was swearing. Then I had to yell because they were yelling at the top of their lungs. I told Chris on the way home to remind me of this experience the next time I say I want to go there. BUT, my mom said that we passed our test because we came out of this weekend still loving each other.
If anyone ever gets the chance to get a Keva smoothie get one. They are awesome! I wish another one would open up here. I really wish the one in Ithaca didn't close!
On a positive note, Chris & I decided to go to NYC for my birthday. So only a few more weeks before we get to go. Also, some killer movies to watch when you get a new big tv and surround sound - the Lord of the Rings trilogy. They sound great and look fantastic!
